Indian Dresses For Ladies Biography

Indian fashion is filled with colors and style. Clothes for women include the elegant sari, the comfortable salwar suit or salwar kurta and the stylish lehnga choli. While these dresses may look complicated, they are actually quite easy to wear and allow women a lot of comfort and ease while at work and at home. Here is an introduction to three most popular dresses worn by women in India.
The Ethnic and Elegant Sari

The sari is actually India’s national dress for women and consists of a long, five and a half meter length of fabric that is draped around the body, over a petticoat, and is paired with a coordinating blouse. Blouses vary from the traditional, simple sari blouse to the more adventurous halter-neck and backless blouses. The blouse ends just under the bust. The art of draping the sari is actually quite simple once the wearer is able to learn it properly.

Women wear saris while at work, at home and for festive occasions. While saris may look cumbersome, once a woman gets used to wearing a sari, it is actually quite easy to handle and looks very elegant as wellIndian women, especially the ones who are office goers, prefer wearing salwar suits also known as salwar kurtas or shalwar suits since they are easier to wear than the sari and are also, more comfortable. The salwar suit consists of a knee-length top known as the kurta, which is paired with a loose, pleated lower known as the salwar.

At times, kurtas are paired with churidars, which are like slacks but only much longer which results in them pleating up at the ankles and hence, the name “churidars”. The word "Churi", in Hindi, means "bangles" and the pleats of the churidar look like bangles. The salwar kurta or churidar kurta is paired with a duppatta which is similar to a stole or a long scarf and is draped around the shoulders
